There is a myriad of reasons why people experience trauma. Trauma physically changes our brains. Trauma-Focused therapy is a specific approach that identifies and takes into consideration how the traumatic experience affects an individual’s mental, behavioral, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. At MHMTS, our therapists are trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR is a therapeutic approach that is interactive and designed to alleviate psychological stress associated with traumatic memories. It is an effective form of treatment for trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
